Movie Tips
Today I'm bringing you some POV based movies (well Buried is half POV never mind). Point-of-view , or simply POV, camera angles record the scene from a particular player's viewpoint. See the events through the leading actor's eyes, as if they were experiencing the events themselves. Do you like this kind of movies?
Cloverfield (2008)
7.4/10
Info:
Revolves around a monster attack in New York as told from the point of view of a small group of people.
Review:
The movie draws you in, makes you a part of the experience. It succeeds primarily because of two things; what you see and what you hear.
I'm looking forward to Cloverfield 2 if it's come out.
[Rec] (2007)
7.7/10
Info:
"REC" turns on a young TV reporter and her cameraman who cover the night shift at the local fire station. Receiving a call from an old lady trapped in her house, they reach her building to hear horrifying screams -- which begin a long nightmare and a uniquely dramatic TV report
Review:
This is truly a superb horror movie. It has been a long time since I jumped off my seat a few times (way too many). It has some of the scariest scenes I have ever seen (you'll know what I'm talking about). The way it's filmed helps us to live this "nightmare" as it was for real, as if it was a news article. Also Rec 2 is awesome too. You will be scared instead of being bored!
Buried (2010)
7.3/10
Info:
Paul is a U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.
Review:
Buried is a suspenseful and exciting thriller that forces the viewer to feel claustrophobic at every opportunity. This isn't just a movie, it's an exhausting experience that leaves you breathless.
Cloverfield is the only one of the three I have seen. I just remember watching it in theater waiting and hoping the whole time it'd switch to regular cameras...it never did.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen any of these, Rec looks about right for tonight.
ReplyDeleteCloverfield and Rec are great movies. Because of your review I'm gonna look Buried soon.
ReplyDeleteI think Cloverfield was over hyped and over-rated personally. The only scene that I think was memorable was when the group were in the tunnel in the dark and the crab things came up on them and the part where the chick exploded. Aside from that, snorefest in my book.
ReplyDeleteCloverfield used way too much shaky camera efffects throughout the film. No wonder so many people got motion sickness just watching it.
ReplyDeleteCloverfield was fine. Effect of filming with an amateur camera was a bit annoying though. Buried... I didn't really get a few moments there. Why does he keep burning his oxygen with a Zippo when he has an electic light in there? Why didn't he attempt to destroy the casket planks with his knife? Anyone who held a zippo lit for at least 40 seconds knows how hot the dam things get. He kept it lit for an hour.
ReplyDeleteCloverfield was good but lacking a conclusion :(
ReplyDeleteI saw the remake of REC (Quarantine) and I've been looking for an english dub of REC for AGES! I really want to watch it.
I'm a fan of the horror POV movie, don't know why, just makes it more "Real".
I really wanted to see buried, thanks for reminding me of it!
ReplyDeletei saw all 3 and imho cloverfield is the worst of em
ReplyDeletegood infos tough
Of these 3 i only saw Buried and it was alright i guess.
ReplyDeleteStill haven't seen Buried. I'm at a loss as to how they pull off a movie like this, but apparently - according to recommendations, they do.
ReplyDeletemm nice movies and blog ^^
ReplyDeleteI, unlike most people, loved Cloverfield. It's just one of those movies everyone else, besides you hates.
ReplyDeleteBuried, on the other side had far too many "what the hell were the creators thinking?" moments.
REC I have never seen.
Does "The Startling" count as a semi-POV movie? I mean, it's a three-part episode but still. Feature length in total, right?
ReplyDeleteHow can Cloverfield be rated so high?
ReplyDeletei hated cloverfield! >:(
ReplyDeletetoo much melodrama, not enough monster.
i liked cloverfields concept.
ReplyDeletei will watch buried for sure. thanks!
Cloverfield was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteScared my girlfriend though!
